I visited where I got the last lot of callisia repens from again, and brought home more. Our goal is to grow a whole backyard of it to replace the current lawn as the lawn doesn't tolerate shade under the big tree, as well as for a change of taste.
Like last time, I simply laid a strip and gave it a bit of mist. From the photos it is very clear how much the last lot has taken their roots and pricked up!

wandering jew will not do well as a lawn. if you walk on it too much, you will kill it. also, it does not like being mowed.
ReplyDeletehave you tried seeding kikuyu grass? this is very tolerant of shade but still gives a very thick ground cover.
We don't plan to step on them, and they don't actually mind mowing. My husband just did it at his parents' garden and they were okay.
ReplyDeleteWhat we want to do is putting stepping stones among the ground cover and walk on the stones.
