Lessons learnt from transplanting parsley

Not a graceful sight to see on a hot sunny day with three umbrellas lined up in from of the house, is it? Unfortunately, I feel I have to leave them there to shield the parsley transplanted yesterday.
It has been a typical Brisbane hot summer day. The transplanted parsleys were all lying flat on the ground.  At 10am this morning, I thought they would be okay; just need to wait for the sun goes down and they will stand up themselves. By 11:30am, some leaves were burnt dead, and I realised it was serious. There was still a long time to go until sunset. Hence, the umbrellas.

When we were digging up the parsleys from their original pot, we took care to not damage their roots. Despite the effort, some roots were still broken.

To prevent the damage, a seed-raising tray with compartments is better. This way, plants can be pulled out completely with its root ball, instead of being dug around its roots.

  1. Of the weird things you see in peoples gardens umbrellas are not too far up there, but are real funny on windy days.

  2. Ha, at the end of the day still two parsley looked pretty dead. Luckily I still had some stock left in the planting pot so I moved more to the ground.
