New vs. Old roses

New roses from Brindabella Country Gardens added to our rose collection. White roses are highly fragrant Brindabella Bouquet, supposed to be black spot free and shade tolerant. Pink and cream/white stripy roses are French Rose "Tiger"- finally my long-missed stripy rose from my first garden in New Zealand, although I have no idea what variety it was in my NZ garden. It doesn't matter; the flowers look similar anyway.

================ Time rewinding... ================
     My "original" beloved rose bush in New Zealand below. Compared to Brisbane, New Zealand is a natural rose garden - no aphids or scales. At least I didn't get any of those on the first two rose bushes I ever planted in my life.
     I was a new gardener back then, knowing little about spraying or pruning. I can remember buying two bare-root roses from a local supermarket in September. The only care I gave them was fertilising as instructed on some commercial rose fertiliser.
     I can never forget the lush green leaves suddenly appearing on the stalks, followed by dozens of buds, that soon opened to cover the entire bush.
     Sadly, I had to leave that garden even before the first season ended. I promised to myself that I will one day get the same/similar rose in my garden again!
The first rose I grew. 2006 Whitianga, New Zealand
