Identifying my rose

Appearance:
Colour: apricot, fading with age into light pink
Group: more like hybrid tea (large-flowering) as there is usually one rose on each tip. Occasionally multiple buds form in a seemingly cluster, but they rarely open at the same time.
Height: the main "body" is about 60cm high. If not trimmed, it can shoot up to more than 1.5m.
Identifying notes:
I don't know how many have tried to identify their beloved rose bushes, and ended up giving up. I for one is one of those. Here are a few photographs I took for my rose.
I looked up in two books borrowed from the local library:
The Complete Encyclopedia of Roses by Nico Vermeulen, ISBN: 903661513-5. A European-made book with 1000+ colour photographs. I managed to narrow down the possibilities to these varieties: Paul Shirville, Catherine Deneuve, Schone Berlinerin

The other book I consulted is Australian Roses by Peter Cox, ISBN: 1-876473-02-9. Unfortunately, this book does not offer very detailed description of each variety, and names seem to be locally named, which made it difficult to search and find cross-references on the Internet. I was unable to decide on any that bears close resemblance to my rose.

At the end of the day, is it really that important to know the name of my rose? Maybe I just need to look up for diseases and treat them accordingly, water at the right time, prune in the right way and I will get a healthy and beautiful rose bush.

  1. to get a good flush of roses, prune the bush heavily six weeks prior. it takes about this long for most varieties to grow a new stem and rose. particulary in the warmer months.

  3. use of poo (from horse or other animals if no horses available) is good. increases organics.

  4. Well mine was covered in aphids in early October last year, almost all leaves were gone. Apparently It had been neglected for quite some time. After pruning and spraying, it flowered as seen in the photo. At the moment I'm facing some black spot and scale problems due to the high humidity.
