Backyard ground cover plan

There is a big bare patch in our shady backyard. Half of the yard is covered by carpet grass, and the rest nothing. Recently I obtained some unknown fast-growing ground cover plant from my in-laws. I got a shopping bag full of them and simply spread them on the surface in the shade. In less than two weeks, they have rooted and seemed very well established. All I needed to do was giving them a light mist every day or two. - update: the plant name has been kindly provided by a reader. It is callisia repens.
The unknown ground cover plant has grey-green leaves with purple underside.

  4. Thanks guys for providing names and ideas! I can imagine how it could be a weed in the wild. Have looked up and it has so many different names. Glad now I can tag it. :-)
